Rock history

An aural history of Rock - Not punk, not heavy metal, just straight rock, heavy rock, country rock, American rock but still straight classic rock. From its roots in blues and rock n roll through the early days of the mid 60s to the classic era of the 70s and on to, almost, the present day. Taking in such classic rock acts as the Yardbirds, Rolling Stones, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Free, Status Quo, Bad Company, Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen, Guns n Roses and Aerosmith. With classic tracks like Route 66, Hey Joe, Stairway to Heaven, Layla, Sweet home Alabama, Born in the USA and Doom and Gloom. Compiled from a British viewpoint this playlist includes such British favourites as Status Quo, Slade, ELO and Smokie as well as American and global acts like Bob Seger, Tom Petty, Doobie Brothers etc etc. The first years up to the mid 60s are in exact chronological order based on release date, from then on by year only.
