People tend to make “top 5” lists of their fav “producers”, but imo, it gets real fishy. Y’all include a name who has way too much co-production for me to count it.. or you’ll put a group against an individual.. so this is a personal favorite SOLO beat maker list (yes, I wished to include Neptunes too. They’d be top 5 if I did) I know some uninformed entities tend to butcher music lists, but I can explain .. this is a personal list of my favorite solo beatmakers - meaning who my ears enjoy the most on a daily basis. Not the best music producer, or most skilled, or most popular, most legendary, most musical, best battles, most respectable, most innovative, cleanest mix, most important, best rap producer, or whatever ppl usually project onto these. I’ll do other lists for those things later. This is truly MY taste as it pertains to standalone beats to MY ears. I did it ultimately to celebrate the craft I obsess so much over. And I’m pretty good at this craft, hence me being in my own top 5. That’s not a fluke, I mean that jawn. I tried to get everything in order, but everyone on this is amazing in their own right. Sometimes it can fluctuate. It took multiple days to get this together, like staying up til 7am type ish. I honestly treated it like my albums. Subsequently, I made a YouTube playlist with a beat for each person on the list (besides one), so you guys can really get a glimpse into the talent of these folks. You can find that in my bio. Enjoy it, cause it’s rare someone of my experience level does something like this (for good reason but 🤷🏽♂️ lol) Also, today is the 50th birthday of my big homie and 24th on my list, the incomparable @darealdibiase 🎂 happy birthday king! His track is featured in the second slide.
