Ether

Ether is an Ep by Ghettoo Uppgrade. Ether: The clear sky; the upper regions of air beyond the clouds. Ghettoo Uppgrade aka Kakookolo is a rapper/creative and producer from Makindye. He was inspired much by hip-hop in his younger days to become what he is now. He drops this project an ep to just to gain clout for the works he wishes to release. Ether being his debut full length project it is a powerful project for him. It drops when people have said he wasn't a good rapper and he still rap, he was told he can never sing and now he does exactly that, they said he will give up being a Creative and here he is, he a full time Creative on blast. It shouldn't be confused with proving people wrong because he does not do it for them but himself, his pleasure and the people that care to listen. Ether tells a story of a young person thinking with wisdom of the 'elderly' but with a child's curiosity. A lot of times people say they are woke only to conform to what other woke people say/do. When a kid is growing they are told a lot of 'no you can't do this' or that by the time they are adult they have the same narrow mind doing things the way other people do. "Ether represents minds greater than just the 'sky is the limit'. I was so much told I was a looser by my family and friends for winning the 2017 MTN Cypher along with Recho Rey and Lil Rich who went on to actually put out records and I did not. They trolled me for winning 500,000 Ugandan Shillings at the MTN Cypher and not sharing it with them (family and friends). I used this money to buy a small computer and installed FL Studio taught myself how to make beats now I can create music any time I want. I could release 100 songs each year if I liked. Instead of using 500k to produce one song I now can produce infinity songs that right there is Ether." Ether is a reflection of himself, every sound that he was raised on and helped shape him from Kadongo kamu music to the popular dancehall to trap to afro beat etc. It's Ether for you to drop out of school (family financial problems) teach myself the "fancy English" people always accuse me of so that I could express better. I believe language is just a medium of expression. It's Ether when you write, produce, arrange, mix, master your own music It's Ether to express yourself fluently over a beat in more than three languages. It's Ether to battle with so much anxiety, mood swings, depression and reality distortion but you still pull through. It's Ether to be the first to to be a rapper/creative it in your whole clan, your hood, your past school classmates. Lastly he does not believe there is a functioning music industry in Uganda there is something that guises to be it. Ghettoo Uppgrade is determined to change the industry with or without help from anyone. "I will not work all my life with in the industry I will be the industry I will own it, one day at a time."
