Performed by The Gentlemen Bastards - December Rock Rebellion, Live at Lovelands 2023 🎩🎸 The Gentlemen Bastards: Sleighin' the Lovetrain to Oblivion! 🚂🎅🤘 "Once again until the end!" is not just a battle cry—it's the jingle-bell anthem of The Gentlemen Bastards, the raucous house band extraordinaire of Lovelands, the underground North Pole of Wellington's music scene! In their holiday symphony of influences, they waltz with the ghosts of Pink Floyd, shake hands with David Bowie's stardust, and ride Santa's sleigh through the classics of The Beatles, Split Enz, Jimi Hendrix, and the Rolling Stones. The Gentlemen Bastards mix up a hedonistic cocktail of hot rock and ballads, leaving heads spinning like dreidels and arses shaking like bowls full of jelly. The Gentlemen Bastards are the epitome of Kiwi original rock, a genre-defying force that's been compared to the Dunedin underground rock scene from Christmases past. Some hear echoes of punk and scar, but no one has dared compare them to opera—probably because they're too busy trying to find the perfect Christmas sweater. With the return of anthems like 'Vibe' and the international hit 'Left on Read' to the more melodic carols like 'End of the Line' and the soul-stirring 'Change of Bass,' The Gentlemen Bastards set the night (and themselves!) ablaze in a festive bonfire of musical joy. With a song list longer than Santa's naughty list, they always make room for the classics. With 38 privately self-released albums under their Santa belts, bearing titles like "Bong Chop City Stop," "Mustard Sunset," "Extreme Rack," and "Tripping under the lights," The Gentlemen Bastards are the true Santas of sonic surprises. Currently working on another album, their fans can expect it in 2035—just in time for the next Christmas comet.
