Most stories need a villain, someone for the hero to face and overcome. They fit as an antagonist though from time to time they are the lead of a story. Many have goals rooted in evil, though some pursue more righteous objectives with an “end justifies the means” mindset. They might just be a rival or as an antagonist they could even be a hero. One thing is for certain despite the most evil or just of them - they have amazing theme music. Usually darker, heavier beats without the uplifting motivational sound a hero’s theme may have. It exudes power or malice, cruelty or divinity...they’re catchy and I love listening to them. Here are my extensions of various villain and antagonist characters in anime. Some aren’t all bad and some themes carry an air of tragedy to them...it’s what also makes these kinds of characters so complex and investing. So take some time to check these out if you will, there’s a large variety between them all. A lot of Jojo right now because among franchises every single stand user can be a threat. Note I may not include one time antagonist turned protagonist themes such as Kakyoin or Polnareff as they spend a majority of their stories as protagonists.
