This is Gentry's full 2006 epic alterna-indie-rock album, No War, including live performances and a video directed by his brother Kaleb Bronson. Originally released as a 3-part trilogy concept album, Gentry jokingly has called this his "Star Wars trilogy record", which begins in the Light side, gets dark in the middle and returns to the light at the end. The album concept had come to Gentry 12 years before when he was traveling in Turkey and wanted to write an album about his experiences growing up with his father, a Vietnam veteran with PTSD. His intention was to write an album that combined large subjects: war, religion and love. Many of the songs were inspired by the post-9/11 Bush years. Later, it became an anti-violence album and then an album about surrender. Gentry had just ended his band of just years, the Night Watchmen, six months before recording this album, and it set the tone for his solo work to follow. Written between 2004 and 2006 and recorded just outside San Francisco in the Northern California city of San Rafael, the band featured Alex Aspinall on drums, Adam Thompson on electric bass, Scott Llamas on electric guitar and back-up vocals, and guest Brett Fenex on guitar and back-vocals. It was a productive time for the songwriter and composer, as the album was released two months after Gentry released "Santa Fe Sky", an instrumental meditation album written, recorded and produced with Dave Hoover in New Mexico. This album was the culmination of his years of hard work in the SF Bay Area and the foundation of what was to come next. After No War's release, Gentry toured the U.S. and Europe for three years playing these songs and writing many more. He released the single Avond in 2008, an English adaptation of Boudewijn de Groot's Dutch classic, and the self-titled EP Gentry Bronson in 2009. He continued to play Europe, and especially the Netherlands, for many years, but refrained from doing much U.S. touring after 2008, preferring one-off shows and opening for larger acts.
