Recorded between September 1984 and April 1985, Balance Of Power became the final album of ELO's classic run, with the group stripped down to a core trio of Jeff Lynne, Bev Bevan and Richard Tandy, plus guest saxophonist Christian Schneider. CBS objected to the lyrical pointedness of intended closing tracks Caught In A Trap and Destination Unknown, but in this expanded version, these and more session outtakes have been restored, creating what should be the definitive edition of this historic swansong.
