Coming off the success of George Harrison's "Cloud Nine", Tom Petty's "Full Moon Fever", and "The Traveling Wilburys Vol 1", a musically-recharged Jeff Lynne released his first solo album with the help of Harrison, plus old ELO comrades Richard Tandy & Dave Morgan, as well as then-girlfriend Mette Mathiesen on drums. Armchair Theatre became a time capsule of Lynne in what is arguably his prime, channeling production techniques from across the decades to make an unmistakable sound. Also included are several tracks recorded during the period, rerecordings of tracks approved by Lynne, and even some various tracks Lynne produced during the period. While not all-encompassing, we hope this edition showcases Lynne's range and talent during this period.
