Fariman Jabbarzadeh is an Iranian singer, songwriter, and musician, known for pioneering Western pop and rock music in Iran. Born in 1985 in Tehran, he developed a passion for international music icons like Michael Jackson, The Beatles, and Eric Clapton. Despite restrictions on Western music in Iran, Fariman became the first Iranian artist to fluently sing in English while producing high-quality music videos with innovative visual effects. His debut single, They Won’t Understand (2010), gained massive recognition, followed by hits like Stay with Me (2011) and Begoo Ba Man Mimooni (2012). Over the years, he collaborated with global artists, including the American rapper 2Deep and the legendary Italian singer Al Bano (Rise from the Fall, 2022). Despite his success, Iranian authorities have repeatedly banned him from performing publicly. On June 8, 2024, just five hours before his scheduled live concert at Shahrzad Theater Complex, Tehran’s security police forced its cancellation with a threatening call. Undeterred, Fariman turned adversity into creativity—he and his band recorded the entire performance behind closed doors and later shared it with fans online.
