BITTER SWEET LOVE - The new album - OUT NOW 💿 https://jamesarthur.lnk.to/BSL James Arthur was on stage when it struck him how his fifth album should sound. A sold-out crowd was singing along to his hits, immersed in the emotion that James could hear in his own voice. “I always connect with an audience,” says the Middlesbrough-born musician, “but something special happened that night. There was an intensity to my voice, a rawness that the fans could feel. I wanted to capture the same sensation on record. It was my focus for every song.” Within days of his tour ending in the States, James began sessions with different producers to see who could click with his vision. His final stop was in L.A. with Steve Solomon, with whom he co-wrote his 2016 megahit Say You Won’t Let Go, recently certificated a diamond seller in America, one of only around 100 songs in history to achieve the accolade. “I hadn’t written with Steve since Say You Won’t Let Go and, to be honest, I didn’t remember him too well,” says James. “I’m ashamed to say I was hungover when we first met. We wrote what I thought at the time was a half decent song and he put some guitar parts on it. Then, of course, it turned into this monster hit which literally changed my life. “The moment we got back together, I realised how much chemistry we had. Steve gets me and he understood my vision straight away – raw, band-oriented, storytelling songs with a heavy dose of Americana.”
