Both men, Joe and Antoine, could only gain with this session; Big Joe's career was in a slump an Fats charted only once ("The Fat Man", his other recordings missed the charts). However their are some real treats here at Imperial, with the famous Dave Bartholomew studio band, and as mentioned, with Fats Domino at piano. The slow blues "Story to Tell" and "Lucille" have particularly compelling vocals and splendid boogie blues piano from Domino. "Jumpin’ Tonight" is a rocking jump blues similar to some of his Freedom recordings. Alas, these made little chart impression. Shortly thereafter Turner started recording for Atlantic Records, a label which developed a winning formula with Big Joe, reviving his career as a major recording artist. Fats charted soon afterwards with "Every Night About This Time"(version 1) and from then on he would be a mainstay in the charts. So both men gained a lot! JJ
