Formed in Detroit in 2019, Hard Car Kids brings six unlikely artist friends together to create an energetic, playful sound that melds a multitude of musical backgrounds into a carefree, genreless supergroup. During Charlie Burg's Detroit stop on tour with Ashe in 2019, he and his close friends stoop lee and austenyo went over to the residence of local rapper and producer Munch, who happened to be hosting Cincinnati-based vocalist Leo Pastel for the weekend. The group of five were joined by Jacob Sigman, and, having just met after the show, decided to pass around a microphone and freestyle a song. Thus, Hard Car Kids was born. Since its inception, the group has released a steady stream of singles in addition to the 2021 long-play Dream Cruise. Despite living in disparate cities, all six artists come together in Detroit once a year to hammer out a new batch of beats that then take shape remotely into new songs. Hard Car Kids returns in January 2024 with its newest extended play NIGHT RIDE, a short project of six punch-packing tracks that showcase the group's ability to sonically shape shift while maintaining a fun-loving spirit amongst friends.
