The main idea of the project is to create a comprehensive video archive showcasing the finest works of Kazakh musical heritage, performed by the Orchestra of Kazakh Folk Instruments, soloists, and the Kazakh conservatory’s folkloric ensembles. Anthology of Kazakh Music is a collection of professionally produced video recordings—from classical masterpieces to contemporary compositions—captured in high-quality 4K format. The repertoire includes kyuis of the founders of the tokpe school (Kurmangazy, Dina, Turkesh, Dauletkerey) and the shertpe school (Tattimbet, Ashimtai), as well as works by composers of the 20th–21st centuries such as Nurgisa Tlendiyev, Karshyga Akhmedyarov, Arman Zhayym, Bauyrzhan Kobengaliev, Malkazhdar Aubakirov, and others, performed by the Kazakh Folk Orchestra of the Kurmangazy National Conservatory, soloists, and folkloric ensembles. Each musical recording is complemented by behind-the-scenes footage and valuable commentary from performers and musicians. Jania Aubakirova: "We wanted the achievements of recent years—the expansion and preservation of the repertoire of Kazakh traditional music, especially for large orchestral ensembles—to be documented using the most advanced audio and video technologies. This is how the idea of the ‘Anthology of Kazakh Music’ in this format was born." The implementation of the Anthology of Kazakh Music project was made possible with the support of Samruk-Kazyna JSC and Samruk-Kazyna Trust.
