Shocking Lemon formed in 1993. The group released two demos throughout 1995 and 1996, and also released their first mini-album, "Nothing", that October. Shocking Lemon went on to tour throughout the remainder of the year, and in the spring of 1997, the group surprisingly went major and signed with Victor Entertainment. In July of 1997, Shocking Lemon released their first single, "Marshmallow Bomb", which turned out to be a tremendous commercial flop, and the group were later dropped from the Victor roster by the summer of 1998. Shocking Lemon went on to tour as an independent act throughout the remainder of 1998, and later released their third demo, "1995-1997", in late 1998. In July of 1999, Shocking Lemon released their second mini-album "Blue Room", and later released their first full length album, "Denimhead", that November. Both albums were impressive hits in the visual underground, and went on to tour quite heavily throughout the remainder of the year and most of 2000. In September of 2000, the group released their third mini-album "Sound of Ash", and later released their second single, "Under Star", that December. Needless to say, Shocking Lemon's remarkable popularity in the underground visual scene caught the attention of a few major labels, and in the winter of 2001, the group went major a second time and signed to Vap. In March of 2001, Shocking Lemon made their major debut on the soundtrack release of the popular anime series Hajime no Ippo, and later released the song that was featured in the anime, "Inner Light", that May. In September of 2001, Shocking Lemon released their second full length album "Sometimes Alone", and although they had a good push from the label, the album and single both were huge commercial failures. The group ended up getting dropped from the Vap roster by early 2003, and with Shocking Lemon's visual image practically non-existent at this point, the group were in a tough spot at this point. Shocking Lemon went on, however, and released their fourth mini-album "Everything in My Life" in July of 2003. The album had horrendous sales, and is quite difficult to find a copy these days as a result. Due to the album's poor sales, Shocking Lemon ended up touring only sporadically for the next few years. In early 2007, after nearly four years of silence, Shocking Lemon made their return with the release of their third single "Vain World", and later released their third full length album, "Solvent Echo", that April. Although the album had significantly stronger sales than "Everything in My Life", Shocking Lemon ended up disbanding shortly after its release, after eleven years of activity. Frontman Takahiko (隆彦) went on to start his own solo career, which he is still active in today. The guitarist of Shocking Lemon, Hideki (ヒデキ), went on to write music and produce soundtracks for numerous anime series, with some of the most notable being Death Note and Gyakkyou Burai Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor. He continued doing work for other successful anime shows until he was involved in a controversial marijuana scandal in 2012, which has since greatly tarnished his reputation. Nothing has been heard of from Hideki since, and it is assumed by most that he is still in jail.
