Synchronisms, Sequenzas, Sound Painting 9/27/13

This concert features a tantalizing array of sounds, both familiar and unfamiliar. Luciano Berio's Sequenzas, each for a different solo instrument, provide dazzling displays of virtuosity while exploiting the performer's entire sonic range. Mario Davidovsky's Synchronisms, written for various solo instruments and ensembles, showcase the expressive possibilities of electronic sounds in combination with live instruments. Sound painting, a directed group improvisation, challenges the performers to create chamber music on the spot.
