The Davernettes (1963)/ Flip and the Dateliners (1964)

The Davernettes were a London based band comprising of four members. Vivienne Chering - vocals and rhythm guitar, Dave Donnison- drums, Graham Sharp- lead guitar and Dave Chering- bass guitar. The Davernettes (1963) evolved into The Dateliners in 1964 when they recorded a selection of songs with Joe Meek; the record producer, sound engineer and songwriter who was making incredibly big waves in the experimental pop music scene of the sixties; Recording and producing some very big names in the industry, among them David Bowie, Heinz, Mike Berry, The Honeycombs, The Tornados, Frankie Vaughan, Tommy Steele,Jess Conrad, Shirley Bassey, Billy Fury and Tom Jones (under the name of Tommy Scott and the Senators). Many of the songs recorded by The Davernettes and Flip and the Dateliners are still lost ...and may never surface. 14 tracks laid down at Curly Clayton´s studio and yet more with Joe Meek. Lets hope one day they surface. If anyone out there has any idea where these lost tracks are please get in touch. Dave Donnison, Graham Sharp and Vivienne Chering remain friends and are in touch with each other to this day. Sadly Dave Chering passed on some years ago. My thanks to Graham Sharp, Dave Donnison and Vivienne Chering for supplying permission, information and photographs to me in order to make this project possible. There was a fair amount of attic crawling involved to find photographs, a few spells in darkened room when the reality that 50 years have passed since all of this happened and plenty of laughs at my expense for asking the band members a load of really daft questions along the way!!! I would also like to add that Dave Donnison has worked tirelessly with me on the original recordings of these tracks and other tracks that Vivienne Chering put down in her subsequent solo career which I hope to bring to You Tube shortly.. Without your help Dave this all would have been a different kettle of fish. I cannot thank all of you enough for making this project (which is very dear to my heart and long overdue) possible for me.XXX More from Vivienne Chering in her solo career here... https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...
