Still That Combo

Still That Combo is a South African Gqom music duo from Clermont, Durban. This vibrant township is widely regarded as the birthplace and beating heart of Gqom producing many Gqom pioneers like Dj Lag and now the iconic Duo. The group is made up of Sabelo Shangase (DJ Perci) and Kwanele Mzobe (Darksilver), two childhood friends turned musical innovators with one mission: to push the sound of Gqom further than it has ever gone before. The duo officially formed in 2022, in the post-COVID era, at a time when audiences were craving fresh sounds and new energy. They answered that call with music that is both rooted in Durban’s authentic Gqom style and elevated by their unique creative flair. In just three years, they have gone from performing at local gigs to appearing at some of South Africa’s biggest events, including Fact Durban Rocks and the Durban July. Their talent caught the attention of music legend DJ Tira, leading to a collaboration on the track Dlala Mamazi, which has since racked up close to 80,000 views on YouTube alone. This milestone opened the doors to further opportunities, including working with Universal Music and collaborating with well-known acts like Dladla Mshunqisi, Big NUZ, and Beast. Beyond performing, Still That Combo is also building their own music empire through Still That Combo Records, a label dedicated to nurturing young talent from Durban. Their entrepreneurial drive is matched only by their creativity, as seen in their much-loved Gqom series
