Robin Padilla

Robinhood Ferdinand "Robin" Cariño Padilla, also Abdul Aziz, is a Filipino actor and politician serving as senator of the Philippines since 2022. Known for his action films, he portrayed gangster roles in Anak ni Baby Ama, Grease Gun Gang, Bad Boy, and Bad Boy II, among others. Born to actor and politician Roy Padilla Sr. and actress Eva Cariño, Padilla began his career in the film industry as a teenage. He briefly became a communist rebel. Padilla was imprisoned in 1995 for illegal ownership of three firearms related to a driving incident. Padilla converted to Islam after and was granted a conditional pardon by President Fidel V. Ramos in 1998 after serving three years in prison. He would later be granted an absolute pardon by President Rodrigo Duterte in 2016. Padilla was elected to the Senate in the 2022 elections under Duterte's patronage. Padilla is a self-affirmed loyalist of Duterte and an admirer of former president Ferdinand Marcos. He was appointed by the Duterte-aligned party, Partido Demokratiko Pilipino, as their president in 2024 until he took leave in 2025. He is against the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
