Jatayu

Jatayu is a Chennai-based Carnatic-psychedelia band pushing South Indian music into new sonic spaces. Rooted in the depth of Carnatic rhythms and ragas, driven by the energy of jazz, rock, and modern groove, their sound is a meeting point between tradition and experimentation. Over the years, Jatayu has built a reputation for genre-fluid performances, high-energy improvisation, and a distinctive guitar-led voice that carries their identity across borders. From clubs in Chennai to international festival stages, their journey reflects a commitment to expanding how Indian instrumental music can be heard, felt, and reimagined. Their new EP Jewel Tones continues this vision with four classic Carnatic pieces reinterpreted through a modern lens. Each track reframes a familiar melody — exploring triumph, longing, closure, and inner fire while honouring the lineage behind the music. With this release, Jatayu sharpen their mission: to craft music that feels rooted yet adventurous, connecting with people from all over the world using music as a language.
