The Cabin Project - a group of all women and non-binary Portland and PNW-based musicians - is a musical hybrid of art rock, orchestral, indie and alt-folk. The band’s sound stems from a dynamic architecture of vocal harmonies and instrumental counter melodies, orchestral colors, and propulsive rhythmic shifts. The Cabin Project began in 2009, when collective founder Katie Sawicki stepped away from solo touring in search of a more collaborative sound. An upstairs studio lined with Douglas Fir became the group’s first creative home and name. Since then, the Pacific Northwest band has honed a sound all its own—heartfelt and intimate at its center, with fearless anthemic choruses and cinematic scale. The group remains a powerhouse collective of queer, women and nonbinary musicians and creatives, continually reshaping its perspective and practice.
