Hayley Mary found her footing in the original era of indie-slease with Sydney band The Jezabels, known for their emotive, new-wave indie sound, and quickly gained recognition as an enigmatic frontwoman. After international success and touring, the band went into hiatus, leading Hayley to pursue a solo career. Since 2020, Hayley has released three solo pop rock solo EPs 'The Piss, The Perfume', 'The Drip' and 'Fall In Love', including anthemic single ‘Like A Woman Should’. Produced by Scott Horscroft (Silverchair, The Presets), Johnny Took (DMA'S) and Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy), these combined her trademark quirky, provocative, romantic lyricism with a more aggressive classic-rock/singer-songwriter style and saw her support the likes of Liam Gallagher, and Tim Finn. In 2024 Hayley released her debut album, 'Roman XS' in October 2024 including including singles 'One Last Drag', 'The Ballad Of Ruby Wednesday', 'The Lonely One', and 'Primordial Afterglow' . Produced by Hayley and Lachlan Mitchell, with co-production from Johnny Took & Lewis Stephenson (The Belligerents), 'Roman XS' traverses the territory of iconic 80s divas such as Annie Lennox and Kate Bush, infused with moments reminiscent of more masculine rock like The Killers, The Cure, and Arctic Monkeys, as well as hints of the gritty dance beats of The Chemical Brothers or New Order. 'Roman XS' was followed by double A-Side release' Roman XS - Extensio' including 'George' and 'Sorrow The Rapture'.
