About Alice Glass: Alice Glass’ debut album is a singular and electrifying blast of raw emotion that’s unmistakably hers—the result of a lifetime lived wielding the sharp objects necessary to survive in the wake of trauma and abuse. “It’s really hard to heal from suffering at the rate everyone wants you to,” she states while discussing the emotional mindset behind PREY//IV, a collaborative effort with producer and musician Jupiter io. “I get messages from people all the time about what’s happened to me, and there’s always this cliché of the victim overcoming and becoming ‘the survivor’. It’s one-dimensional. Idealistic endings don’t represent reality. There are lots of different ways that people live their lives, and mine is one of them.” PREY//IV came together over the last four years as Glass and her partner Jupiter worked on writing and recording the album from the confines of their basement. “Making this record has been a very painful journey, but me and Jupiter trust each other,” Glass explains while discussing the pair’s creative process. “Being able to be comfortable and get into a state in the studio where I’m not being judged makes me realize that this process can be cathartic, too. It’s not happy music, but at this point I have no choice but to write music like this.”
