Claes Kasper Bang is a Danish actor, musician, songwriter, and composer releasing synth-pop and electronic pop under the name This Is Not America, whose five-track EP arrives June 12, 2026. Based in Copenhagen and born in Odense, Bang began making music on his computer in 2002, taught himself piano and guitar, and adopted the alias in 2008 after Danish radio had a policy against giving airplay to actors. Early singles "Don't Come Crying," "Shameless," and "Run" found substantial airplay before stations identified him as the artist. His debut album Dislocated arrived in 2010, with a sound compared to Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, and Gangway. Internationally recognized as the European Film Award-winning actor for The Square, in which Bang was the first Danish actor to receive the award. Bang describes This Is Not America as a creative counterweight to his film and television work, free from outside direction.
