Neel Nadkarni, popularly known as NEEL, is a Pop/R&B and Bollywood-influenced singer-songwriter and producer based out of New York. Born and raised in New Jersey, NEEL is influenced by both Indian and American culture, which he translates beautifully in his music. Surrounded by music from a young age, NEEL expresses his musical abilities through his wide-ranged vocals and by playing piano, harmonium & tabla. He is a Rafi-bhakt and has been singing Rafi Sahab’s songs since he was a very young boy. Vocally trained in Hindustani and Western classical music, NEEL is versatile in many genres, especially Urban Desi & Hindi R&B. NEEL is a performer at heart and has opened for many well-known artists such as Jay Sean, Ustad Ghulam Ali, Mickey Singh, Raghav, and Vishal-Shekhar in popular arenas. He has also performed alongside Sukhwinder Singh and has recorded backing vocals on a Sufi Bollywood song by Javed Ali.NEEL’s notable accomplishment to date is being a Finalist on the highly acclaimed reality television singing show SaReGaMaPa, both Hindi and Marathi.He was also a winner on Shankar Mahadevan’s competition,Exodia Idol. NEEL’s singles have played on BBC Asian Network,BritAsia, B4U, & The Bobby Friction Show in the UK. Neel Nadkarni was also awarded “Best Male Singer” amongst competitors around America at the iFab Music Awards.NEEL strives to create & perform original music he is passionate about while at the same time sharing his love for other music through his own renditions.
