Originally from New Mexico, Dzaki grew up near the Organ Mountains and Green Chile Fields. The summers he spent on farmland were summers spent working in the blazing sun & listening to music was the only way to pass the time. This was when he first heard the cry of an old steel guitar, while listening to an old Willie track. From that moment on he was hooked. Dzaki was always nervous when singing in front of others. He states “I loved singing in front of my family and close friends but Refused to do so in front of others." That was until his senior year of high school, when he convinced himself to participate in his first talent show. Although nervous, he knew he had the support of his family, friends and his FFA Advisor who pushed him to sign up in the first place. The talent show was for the New Mexico State FFA Convention, hosting nearly the whole state. In the summer of 2018, Dzaki won the talent show against the whole state and placed Top 13 at Nationals. Being able to perform in front of thousands of FFA members helped Dzaki become more confident in his talents, which eventually motivated him to pursue a career in music. Dzaki went on to win a Golden Ticket on the popular reality show "American Idol" in 2020. “I realized life is short. Time is irreplaceable, and if something is terrifying, it must be worthwhile. Because you never know what is on the other side of that mountain.” - Dzaki Sukarno
