It's tough to pin down Charlie Smith, aka ObeyGrey, to a single sound. Starting on SoundClick in 2006 under nova11 making techno: ObeyGrey has gone through a couple of metamorphoses. From 2011-2015, ObeyGrey produced monster remixes and bootlegs under the name DarkGrey, including: The Catch Up (DarkGrey Bootleg), Skitsnygg - Digital Drugs (DarkGrey Remix) for Sex Cult Records, and a Purity Ring GrandLoves bootleg that sat atop the hype charts for over a month. DarkGrey worked with Aliasizm, JD4D, EDM.com, and Dubstep.net in ending 2014 with a variety of free bootlegs and remixes. DarkGrey also worked with Notixx on the collab 'Cold Front', and released the moombahton heater 'Disrespect' and bootleg of 'That S*** Cray' which received support from Bro Safari and Doorly, among others! In 2013 the mayhem continued, with a series of gigs opening for Monument, Karashò, Ganja White Night, Mayhem, Crizzly, Borgore, Skism, DJ Starscream, Mustard Pimp and more. Ever the staple in Iowa City, Des Moines, Waterloo and Cedar Falls - DG played hundreds of gigs around the region under that name. In early 2016 - DarkGrey was no more and ObeyGrey took his place. With an emphasis on musicality undertoned by deep heavy bass, ObeyGrey launched forward, linking up with Sweez to found MoonCrew MCX - an imprint dropping monsters like Don't Stop EP and ObeyGrey's big bass bombaclad ‘When I’ and the slow summer skanker ‘Still Fly ‘
