Electronic music producer and computer scientist. Sermet Cakmak creates original electronic and cinematic music, pairing sound with visual experiments, sound diaries, and atmospheric short-form series. His work moves between minimal techno, downtempo, ambient, electronica, and darker cinematic moods. Since entering the electronic music scene as a dedicated listener in 2008, he has explored sound through DJ sets, radio shows, live projects, concept albums, and experimental visual-music formats. Between 2012 and 2018, Sermet performed as a techno DJ, including gigs in Brussels and abroad. In 2015, he created The Adults Want Techno, a Brussels-based online radio show featuring his own mixes alongside guest artists. He was also involved in Brussels Electronic Marathon, a three-day celebration of the local electronic music scene. In 2016, he launched Cities & Stories, a concept album series where sound experiments are shaped around places, memories, and visuals. He later explored improvised downtempo and hybrid-live performances through the s:tone project in Brussels. Today, Sermet focuses on original soundtracks, cinematic electronic music, and visual-audio series such as NOCTRA, Sound Diary, and Random Pieces — projects that turn sound into atmosphere, memory, and story.
