Tyler Dial grew up in Arizona listening to Country music while wearing “faded Chuck Taylors” instead of cowboy boots; loving the Eagles and The Rolling Stones as much as George Strait and Garth Brooks. The son of a concert promoter, he learned to play his dad’s guitar while developing a “little bit Country, little bit Rock ‘n’ Roll” sensibility. Cutting his teeth in Austin while studying at the University of Texas, performing for UT bashes and Sixth Street haunts readied Dial for Nashville after college where he first worked at an East Nashville bar and on a pontoon boat/party barge. “Better hold on to your hat / When you’re runnin’ downhill” warns Dial in his first release in three years. Showcasing his evolution as a songwriter and a performer, Dial co-penned the Andy Skib-produced track alongside Melissa Fuller, David Hodges, and Mike Robinson, blending many of the elements that fans have come to love from Dial including relatable lyrics, catchy melodies, and danceable rhythms. Creating the yin and yang of his new-era vision – night and day, acoustic and electric, traditional and progressive, city and country, Vans and cowboy boots – ‘Runnin’ Downhill’ is the stepping off point for all of it. The direct result of late nights working at an East Nashville bar mixed with rowdy shifts on a pontoon boat/party barge, the Arizona native has dug in deep on his artistry since relocating after college.
