Serious Klein is a Ghanaian-German artist born in Germany to Ghanaian parents and raised between London and Amsterdam before eventually returning to Germany. Growing up between different cultures, cities and perspectives became fundamental to both his music and creative identity. Emerging from Germany’s underground hip-hop scene, Serious Klein developed a distinct approach to rap shaped by the different worlds he grew up around, drawing from hip-hop, soul, jazz and experimental production while building an audience far beyond his local scene. His early projects The Serious Outlook (2012), The Introduction (2015) and Summer 03’s Problem (2016) established him as one of Germany’s most compelling new voices, while gaining recognition across the UK and US. During this period, Serious Klein shared stages with artists including Denzel Curry, Mick Jenkins, The Underachievers and Bryson Tiller, and was personally highlighted by Alicia Keys following a performance at her Underground event in Berlin. In 2018, Serious Klein released his debut album You Should’ve Known via Majestic Casual, followed by Ludus in 2021. His work continued to evolve beyond music alone, with Serious Klein increasingly shaping the visual language and creative direction surrounding his projects. In 2024, Serious Klein signed with Mass Appeal and subsequently joined the 30 Years of Illmatic Tour, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his career.
