Michelle Pollace is a versatile multi-instrumentalist from San Jose, CA, known for her roots in jazz and Latin and Brazilian rhythms. Her musical journey spans decades, from self-taught piano at age 9 to studying jazz at San Jose State University and playing in such diverse projects as a Gamelan orchestra, various subgenres of rock, and a collaboration with Abel Zarate to release “Soul Redemption” in 2005 as the world-fusion Latin jazz group Zarate Pollace Project. She is most known as composer and leader of her small-combo Latin Jazz band and her widely acclaimed 2013 album “New Beginning.” After a 10-year hiatus focusing on her son’s education, Michelle returned with a new sound. Influenced by artists like Bonobo, Jazzanova, and Gazzara, her EP "I’m Just Happy to Be Here," blended jazz sensibility, Latin and Brazilian rhythms, and modern production elements of electronic music. She continues that tradition with the release of her latest EP "Bas Relief" for download, supported by the release of singles from the EP on all major streaming platforms.
