ICXN (pronounced icon) is the musical moniker of Ibrahim Kamara—artist, cultural entrepreneur, and founder of GUAP. Raised in South London, Kamara’s earliest memories are rooted in sound—his father waking the house with music from his 5-piece stereo system. By age 11, he was writing and recording as a grime MC under the name “iCon,” sharing early stages with peers like Maxsta and Prynce Mini, with appearances on 1Xtra and Kiss FM. From 21, he stepped away from music to build GUAP, a youth-led media platform that has grown to become a cornerstone of British creative culture. Following the passing of his father in 2021, Kamara returned to music—this time with greater clarity and artistic depth. Now recording as ICXN, his sound blends jazz-infused hip-hop, neo-soul, and alternative R&B. His lyrics reflect themes of ambition, identity, loss, and cultural legacy—balancing poetic introspection with sharp social awareness. ICXN stands at the intersection of storytelling and sound, building a world that is as cinematic as it is grounded in lived experience.
