Multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, performer, busker and “Walking Jukebox“ - Jody Cooper walks to the beat of his own drum. His own songs combine a love of melody and style experimentation borrowed from his parents' record collection (The Beatles meets Kraftwerk) with his incredibly expressive voice and lyrics that, as he puts it, “look beyond the surface, to question the reality of things and the uncomfortable truths they tell”. Growing up in the eighties as an English boy in a rural Scottish town, Jody always felt he had to try harder than the next kid. He started writing his own songs at the age of fourteen and, from then on, music became the only thing that mattered. After his first visit and concerts to the U.S. in 2016, 2017 saw the release of his most ambitious project so far, 'Serenades and Odes to a Cracked World (Part 1)': his first crowdfunded concept album on the theme of disintegration. In 2019 he instigated his first international collaborative project – '19' – to celebrate the Bicentenary of the birth of the Báb – prophet-herald of the Baháí Faith. After a whirlwind six-week tour of New Zealand and a very creative three months of self-imposed Corona isolation in the wilds of North Hessen, Jody is excited to bring us his latest work: 'The Love & Loss Project' – an evolving online collection of songs scheduled for release in 2023 and beyond.
