Grace Woodroofe is an Australian singer-songwriter whose ambitious two-part album project, Rotate On The Ache, marks the return of one of the country's most distinctive and emotionally uncompromising voices. Sequenced to unfold from inside the experience rather than through hindsight, Part 1 captures the slow shift of a relationship from devotion and love into manipulation, control and the loss of self. Moving between intimate songwriting and cinematic indie-pop, beauty and euphoria often mask what lies beneath. Bernard Zuel described the project as “an actual soundtrack of a life”, while Rolling Stone AU/NZ called Rotate On The Ache (Part 1) “an unsparing but powerful listen”. Double J praised Woodroofe's “stunning voice” and the record's blend of intimate guitars and cinematic indie-pop. Discovered and supported by the late Heath Ledger while still in high school, Woodroofe was later introduced to Ben Harper, who produced her debut album Always Want. She went on to reach #3 on the Australian iTunes Album Chart, earn recognition as a Rolling Stone “Artist To Watch” and attract support from NPR, KCRW and The New York Times. In 2026, Woodroofe was named a finalist in the Women in Music APRA AMCOS Songwriter Award and the APRA AMCOS Professional Development Awards. Produced by Oscar Dawson and featuring co-writes with Matt Corby, Dustin Tebbutt and Xavier Dunn, Rotate On The Ache is her most personal work to date: a portrait of life coming apart and slowly being rebuilt.
