“My goal is to create music that speaks to the essence of the human spirit—and to help make the world a better place through sound,” says Folklore Musician, Multi Instrumentalist, Composer Suzuma Nomura. With roots in both classical and folkloric traditions, Suzuma’s work reflects a deep commitment to authenticity, connection, and cross-cultural harmony. Born in Yamaguchi, Japan, Suzuma relocated to New York City in 2021, where he began performing as a street artist in iconic spaces like Times Square. Armed with just his violin, a loop station, and a spirit of exploration, he blended elements of Andean folk, jazz, and cinematic composition—captivating diverse audiences and deepening his belief in music’s power to transcend borders. After returning to Japan in October 2023, Suzuma co-founded the folk duo KICHWAS with SISAY member Jaime Gramal. Together, they toured across Japan, introducing audiences to a unique fusion of South American folklore and Japanese sensibility. In March 2025, Suzuma joined the SISAY Ecuador Tour as an official member, performing live on a major stage before more than 10,000 people. He also appeared in a music video by the acclaimed Ecuadorian band JARAWI, now available on YouTube. His journey—spanning three continents—continues to reflect his vision: to offer music rooted in truth, and to build a better, more connected world through every note he plays.
