Before he ever set foot on Broadway, James A. Rocco was already in a recording studio. As a kid in the '60s, he sang backup on Frank Sinatra's Watertown — coached by Frankie Valli — and was the voice behind the original Burger King jingle: "It takes two hands to handle a Whopper." His first full recording sessions happened at the legendary Gold Star Studios in Hollywood, where he cut an early version of "Calendar Girl." Decades followed as a concert artist — featured alongside Herbie Hancock, Darlene Love, and Dee Dee Bridgewater — and as a Broadway performer, playing The Rum Tum Tugger in CATS and Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar. He directed over 200 productions, including a decade leading the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. Now, as founder of Thirty Saints Records, Rocco is finally releasing the catalog those decades built — remastered, re-imagined, and very much alive.
