Judith Owen

Judith Owen is a genre-defying singer, songwriter and storyteller whose music spans jazz, blues, big band, rock, pop, classical and musical theatre. Known for wildly charismatic live shows (part concert, part theatre), she creates “mini-musicals” rich in humour, heart and fearless musicianship. Born into a musical Welsh family and raised in London, Judith grew up on opera, jazz, Broadway and blues. Weekends backstage at the Royal Opera House, where her father sang, shaped her dramatic instincts; teaching herself piano by ear became both refuge and release. A pivotal drama-school performance revealed her musical calling, the turning point that changed everything. Fifteen albums into an acclaimed international career, Judith has reached millions worldwide. Her 2022 breakout Come On & Get It was hailed by The Times as “one of the most joyous releases of the year,” followed by the live album Judith Owen Comes Alive (recorded at Marians Jazzroom, Bern) and the big-band celebration Judith Owen Swings Christmas. Her latest album, Suit Yourself, is the full Judith Owen experience: big band fire, jazz sensuality, blues grit and intoxicating songwriting, delivered with swagger and joy. Judith Owen is co-creator and co-host of the annual “Christmas Without Tears” charity variety show, along with husband Harry Shearer, that has featured guests including Steven Merchant, Tim Minchin, Catherine O’Hara, and many others.
