Growing up in Orange County, California, local punk bands like Social Distortion and Agent Orange had an effect. Shane recalls leaning against the walls outside trying to hear them playing, being too young to be let inside. "I wanted in". But it was his discovery of classic rock bands Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Doors combining with the emerging rock music in the 80's of U2, The Police, and Echo and The Bunnymen that formed the basis of Shane’s musical influences. By the age of 15 he was performing in the local clubs in Los Angeles and by 19 was on a California college tour with his band The Creed. The Creed recorded an EP with legendary producer Dave Jerden (Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Offspring) which received airplay on the L. A. rock radio stations KEDG and KNAC. Shane went on to form Life On Mars in 1996 which became a regular headliner at The Viper Room, and the Roxy Theater, and was featured on KROQ’s Jed The Fish’s “catch of the day” in 1998. While Life On Mars was really starting to break through around the end of the last century, the major label paradigm was breaking down. Life On Mars completed a 4 song CD produced by Jonathan Merrill and mixed by Stu Brawley (Madonna, Michael Jackson, Emmy Rossum). Some of the members went on to help record Shane’s first solo CD “Stuck On Earth”’ Shane had a song featured in the iconic late 90's TV movie “Brink”. He currently writes and produces original material for himself and other artists.
