Delivering jagged grooves and off‑kilter art rock, Weaves burst out of Toronto in 2013. The band started when Jasmyn Burke was writing and recording early demos, catching the attention of Morgan Waters, who joined her in shaping the band’s sound. With Zach Bines (bass) and Spencer Cole (drums), they turned early singles like “Hulahoop,” “Motorcycle,” and “Take a Dip” into underground favorites before their debut EP. Their bold sound and magnetic live energy earned them spots on stages and playlists everywhere — including NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Series and Glastonbury Festival. In 2016, Weaves released their self-titled debut album through Buzz Records (Canada) and Kanine Records (US), earning international acclaim and praise for Burke’s dynamic live presence. Their follow-up, *Wide Open*, dropped in 2017 and solidified their reputation for artful, genre-bending indie rock.
