CKay's scenic, sultry sound has positioned him within a small cast of Afrobeats stars who've created and owned a niche within the genre. With his breakout kickstarting from 2019's CKay the First EP, which spawned the viral hit "love nwantiti (ah ah ah)", the singer-songwriter has functioned as an alchemist— with a rare ability of evoking feelings and spelling out desires atop sweet-sounding piano chords and melodic guitar riffs. This genreless blend forms the fulcrum for 2025's CKay the Second EP. Across six tracks, his voice is extra luxurious: it flows, it saunters and drips with desire. Opener "tey tey" finds CKay reaffirming his undying love with sharp lyrical specificity, introducing an unhurried tone that outlines his desire-and powers most of the EP. There's an atmosphere of seduction that hovers over "permit me", while the Sabrina Claudio-featuring "again" finds the duo making known their vulnerabilities, while gently strutting over bouncy percussion. Meanwhile, the reflective "forever" captures the bliss of new affection. By the time the project rolls on to the glossy Bella Shmurda-assisted "nothing spoil", CKay's ability to immerse himself in pleasure via lush instrumentation and emotionally transparent songwriting is made clear.
