Winfried Strauss

Bringing back the oomph to piano music. Berlin-based composer Winfried Strauss fuses minimal piano with drum machine and analog synth bass – the latter played with his left foot on organ pedals. Rooted in Satie, Glass and Henry Cowell as much as in dark wave and post-punk, his music moves between hypnotic grooves, fragile piano fragments and twelve-tone experiments. Former keyboardist for Nikolas Schreck and composer for the Tbilisi Chamber Theater in Georgia.
